Finally, after today’s leveling session I brought Gilphor to level 85. Took me about 5 hours to level up from 84 to 85. I followed the quest path in the guide and by the time I reached the quest hub at Obsidian Forest, I dinged 85. So, here’s the summary of the last leveling session in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Journal Day 21

Although Zygor Horde leveling guide didn’t mention it, I wanted to complete the quest chain at Ring of Blood – Crucible of Carnage but not only it was bugged, there were like 20 other players there, both factions starting the quest and pulling the bosses totally random. On top of that, there was quite some PvP going on and no one was actually gaining anything. So, I skipped this quest chain, despite the fact that it would have been a very nice XP boost.

Found loads of Twilight Jasmine while I was following Zygor’s quest path. Although it was prime time, no one seemed to have interest for this herb. The zone was swarming with miners though. Anyway, since Twilight Jasmine is the highest level herb and many players spend a lot of time in Twilight Highlands, they gather it and auction it, so there’s no shortage at AH. I sold my stacks for 35 gold each.

The whole leveling process, following Zygor Horde leveling guide has taken 4 days, 11 hours and 35 minutes played, which is not bad at all considering that I didn’t have any Heirlooms and got  the 10% XP guild perk only after I already had 71 levels up.

I’m pretty sure a player that has all the XP bonuses and knows the game better than I do, can level up to 85 in less than 4 days.

On my first character, using just the in-game guide, it took me more than 8 days to level up, and only to 80. Therefore,  I have to say that following the leveling path in this WoW leveling guide has been quite a boost.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 21th Leveling Session

So, as a final word to my Horde leveling journal, I must say that even an average player like me, that didn’t level up too many characters, should be able to level up any World of Warcraft Horde class, following Zygor Horde leveling guide, in about 4 days played.

If you’re a pro and want to go through the leveling part as quickly as possible, to start arena or raiding, this tool surely is a shortcut to the end game content. With Heirlooms, the maximum guild XP bonus and Zygor Horde leveling guide, an experienced player should be able to finish a WoW character in probably 3 days and a half.

Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 20th Day

Starting my 20th leveling session, within the lands of Uldum. So, here’s the 20th chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal.

Played about 4 hours today and made 1 level of XP. When I reached Schnottz camp, after the first 4 quests I dinged level 84 and Zygor Horde leveling guide has updated and told me that I’m ready for TwilightHighlands, so for the 84-85 part I’ll move there.

There was quite a bunch of players at Orsis, Alliance and Horde, farming for Volatile Air, I think. Quite some PvP there, so I had to keep a low profile. Therefore,  the quests here took me a bit more than they should have.

I didn’t like too much the quests in Uldum. Most of them are associated 2 by 2 and you basically can’t solve more than two in one location. Anyway, Zygor Horde leveling guide always took me to the most rewarding spots with quests, allowing me to get a better XP rate.

Couldn’t find any kind mage to teleport me to Orgrimmar even for 50g so I had to fly all over the way to Orgrimmar, therefore I wasted quite a few minutes.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 20th Leveling Session

Calling it a day at Orgrimmar and closing this chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal. Gonna get a bit of rested XP in the main city before starting with the intro quests for Twilight Highlands. Currently Gilphor is level 84 and has 4 days 5 hours and 53 minutes. I think I’ll manage to reach level 85 in less than 4 days and a half. So far, Zygor’s Horde leveling guide quest quest path continues to be nicely optimized, designed to help a player get the highest XP bonus, regardless of level.

>>> Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 21th Day

Here’s another chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal. Today I’m probably move to Deepholm.

Yep, Zygor Horde leveling guide has updated its path telling me to go to Deepholm. However, I remained in Mount Hyjal to finish all the quests in the zone, even if I got a lower XP bonus since the quests are a bit lower now, because I do want the epic items available at Exalted standing with Guardians of Hyjal. So, I’m going to stay here to get as much reputation from these quests, so I won’t have to come back at level 85.

Also, even though I was eligible for the quests in Deepholm, I took a detour and went to Vashj’ir to do all the quests until I got the Sea Horse mount. Who knows when I’m going to need it and I don’t like questing after 85.

While I was doing the  Sea Horse mount quest, my NPCscan went off for Lady La-La, a rare mob which spawns at naga camp in southern Kelp’thar forest, so I managed to go back and kill her before anyone else. Got a pretty nice healing trinket which sold for 250. As I finished with he Sea Horse quest, I moved to Deepholm, following the guide’s path. Once I hit level 83, Zygor guide updated telling me to go to Uldum.

Now, I haven’t finished all the quests in Deepholm and I will go to Uldum, because as I noticed in Hyjal, if quests are just a level lower, you will lose loads of XP on each completed quest. Therefore, if you want to level fast and of course, use this Horde leveling guide, it’s best to stick to its path, to keep your XP rate at maximum.

Anyway, just in case you want to open the daily quests with the Therazane faction, it’s best to remain in Deepholm until you finish all the quests here.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 19th Leveling Session

Calling it a day and closing this chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal at this moment. Gilphor has 4 days, 1 hour and 37 minutes played, he is level 83 an about 1 bar of XP into level 84.

>>> Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 20th Day

After a 4 hours leveling session I managed to bring Gilphor to level 81. So here’s the 18th chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal.

On this leveling session I finished the quests at Argent Vanguard and Crusader’s Pinnacle, in Icecrown. Then I was sent on the Horde gunship to get the quests there. After only 5 quests here I dinged 80 and I stopped because Zygor Horde leveling guide has updated and told me to go to Mount Hyjal.

If you stay in Icecrown to finish the quests on the gunship, inside the cave at Ymirheim there’s an elite quests which require a 3-man group. Zygor Horde leveling guide doesn’t mention it but it’s pretty easy and I think any class can solo it. So, it’s worth to complete for the nice, blue reward. My next stop will be Mount Hyjal. Probably later today. I’m really curious how long will it take to complete the 80-81 XP bar. Taking a break for now.

Back to my keyboard and yes, Zygor’s leveling guide sends me to Mt. Hyjal, so I’m going to continue with this chapter in my Horde leveling journal.

Crazy PvP at Nordrassil. Although Horde seems to run the shots here, Alliance is holding their ground around this neutral encampment and it was quite difficult for me to get around them and solve my quests. Anyway, once I moved away from Nordrassil no one has bothered me.

The XP in Mt. Hyjal was great, plus I got Honored with the Guardians of Hyjal and bought three items that fit more or less to the Paladin specs. Too bad I can’t use them until level 83.

Since the epic items available at Exalted standing with Guardians of Hyjal are nice for Paladins, I think I’m going to complete all the quests in this zone to get as more reputation as possible.

I’m logging for now at Nordrassil. I stopped with my questing at Grove of Aessina and probably going to continue tomorrow.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 18th Leveling Session

Currently, Gilphor is level 81 and has 3 days, 18 hours and 22 minutes played. Although the leveling path in the new zones of Cataclysm is pretty much straightforward, Zygor Horde leveling guide is still a lot of help, because it tells you exactly where to go first and what to do.

>>> Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 19th Day

Played about 3 hours today and here’s the 17th chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal.

Sholazar Basin it’s been a great zone so far. I got loads of XP from herbs and managed to level up from 78 to 79 in only 1 hour and 45 minutes. I literally stuffed my inventory with Goldclover and Adder’s Tongue. The last of the herbs I mentioned sells like hot cakes on this server.

Although Zygor Horde leveling guide has told me to go to Storm Peaks when I was 78 and about 2/3, I decided to remain in Sholazar, until I finish up the Frenzyheart/Oracles quests. I also managed to solo “A Hero’s Burden” and chose the Oracles as my friends because in the future I’d like to get the Green Proto-Drake. Luckily, I finished this quest quickly enough to avoid getting ganked by a group of Alliance players. I popped bubble and managed to teleport home before they interrupted me.

Plenty of gas clouds in Sholazar Basin, just as in Nagrand. If you’re an engineer, Zapthrottle Mote Extractor is a nice tool to bring on if you’re passing through this area. I don’t know about others, but on this server, Eternal Fire currently goes for 40-50g each. Also, if you have Skinning, this is really a good place to boost up your skill. Not only that you’ll have to kill loads of animals while leveling in this area, you’ll find plenty of corpses to skin, since many players choose this zone as their leveling destination. I’m glad this Horde leveling guide has this zone in its leveling path, otherwise I would have taken a detour to this place and still put it in my Horde leveling journal.

Once I finished with the quests in Sholazar, I went to Dalaran to train. Also, although Zygor Horde leveling guide sent me to Storm Peaks, I chose the other 78-80 quest pack, in Icecrown. Storm Peaks isn’t a very accessible zone and I don’t like it in there. Plus, it’s not that great for Herbalism.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 17th Leveling Session

Decided to call it a day at Dalaran, before starting with Icecrown. Gilphor is at this time level 79 and 1/4, after 3 days, 14 hours and 15 minutes played. I know I should have remained on to finish this level and reach 80, but I was just too tired. So far, Zygor’s Horde leveling guide remains an excellent level up tool.

>>> Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 18th Day

I don’t have too much work to do at the office today and the boss is out of town, so I’m gonna start a new leveling session on Gilphor. So, here’s the 16th chapter in my Horde leveling journal.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Journal Day 16 - Part 1

I’m continuing with the tank spec, it’s better for killing 3-4 mobs at one time and I found pretty nice gear. Also, although Zygor Guide didn’t mention “The Hour of the Worg” and “Ursoc, the Bear God” I was able to solo them easily.

After finishing the quests at Camp Oneqwah, the guide told me I was eligible for Zul’drak, so I moved there. Took me about 4 hours to finish the quests at Light’s Breach, Ebon Watch and Voltarus, and after completing some of the quests at Argent Stand, I had to stop because it was time to finish my “working day” :lol: .

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 16th Leveling Session - Part 1
Gilphor is now level 77. Has 3 days and 9 hours played.

Starting a new leveling session for today on Gilphor, probably until I finish with Zul’Drak or until I’m going to reach 78.

After 8 lines into level 78 Zygor Horde leveling guide updated telling me that I’m eligible for the quests in Sholazar. However, I’m going to remain in Zul’Drak until I finish all the quests at Argent Stand. After finishing with the quests at the Argent Stand, before going to Sholazar, I have made a stop at Dalaran to train and also upgrade my Herbalism skill, because it’s been capped at 450 for ages. I got quite a few skill points in Herbalism in Sholazar Basin and also a lot of XP. For an Adder’s Togue I currently get 4750 XP.

Took me 2 hours and 20 minutes to level from 77 to 78 and I’m calling it a night. Gilphor is now level 78, and has 3 days, 11 hours and 27 minutes played.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 16th Leveling Session - Part 2

So far I really can’t complain about this Horde leveling guide. On the contrary, until now it’s been quite a nice level up tool, and since I started Gilphor and started to use this guide, there have been quite a few updates, which means Zygor keeps his guide polished.

>>> Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 17th Day

This post will summarize the events of Gilphor’s 15th leveling session. It’s the 15th chapter in this Horde leveling journal.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Journal Day 15

I haven’t played too much today, logged on just to finish the quests at Conquest Hold. Also I proudly want to add here that I managed to solo the quest chain in Pit of Conquest, although it wasn’t mentioned in Zygor Horde leveling guide. The reward is pretty crappy, but I got pretty nice XP.

I died many times especially on the second boss until I realized I have to move away from his totem.

I don’t think this quest chain is possible to solo with a class that doesn’t have heal or a tank spec. After dying about 10 times, I respecialized on Protection, bought 3 cheap blue items that I found in AH with stamina and tanking stats,  and used a flask of Stoneblood.

Anyway, unless you really want to take this challenge and complete this quest chain solo, I wouldn’t recommend it. I died quite a few times and wasted about 30 minutes on this quest chain. In that time I probably have gotten more XP by doing easy quests. So, unless you have at least another player to group with, you should skip this quest chain.

Once I finished with the Pit of Conquest chain, I moved to Camp Oneqwah, where Zygor’s Horde leveling guide has taken me, and called it a day.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 15th Leveling Session

Gilphor is now 5 lines into level 76, after 3 days and 4 hours played.

>>> Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 16th Day

Starting the 14th leveling session on my Paladin Gilphor and this is another chapter in my Horde leveling journal.

There have been a few updates for Zygor’s Horde leveling guide so I’ve also updated my version using the direct updater. You don’t have to set up the quests level range anymore in the options menu. The guide tells you when you’re eligible for a more appropriate pack of quests to your level. Just as I entered the game, it sent me to Venomspite in Dragonblight, so I skipped the rest of the quests in Borean Tundra.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Journal Day 14

Although Zygor’s Horde leveling guide didn’t mention the quests: “Dreadtalon”, “Gigantaur” and “Magister Keldonus”, probably because they require a 3-man group, I managed to solo all the bosses with my Paladin and also completed the follow up with a friend. Due to the nice XP boost that I got after the 4 elite quests, I probably got ahead with the XP once more and the guide updated telling me that I was eligible for the quests in Grizzly Hills. So, I moved there.

As I reached the shores of Lake Kum’uya, the big body of water in the middle of Borean Tundra, I noticed that there were quite a few Musselback Sculpin, I stopped to catch some so I spent about 7-8 minutes to gather a stack. I also found a kind level 85 that offered to cook these fish for me. I’ll be having the 80 attack power, Well Fed buff for a while.

I gathered quite a few stacks of Goldclover during my leveling session in Borean Tundra. The price is high for this herb apparently so I auctioned them all for 110g per stack. Apparently, since not many players level up characters and everyone is in the new zones of Cataclysm, no one gathers WotLK herbs any more and prices have risen.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 14th Leveling Session

Putting an end to the 14th chapter in this Horde leveling journal. At the end of today’s leveling session,  Gilphor was level 74, and a few lines apart from level 75. Currently, I’m at 3 days, 2 hours and 15 minutes played. I wonder if I’m going to hit level 85 in less than 4 days, without any Heirlooms. Zygor’s Horde leveling guide maintains the same polished line, keeping me on the right track.

>>> Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 15th Day

Many Horde players take the dungeon option for leveling their character from 1 to 85 nowadays. This is not a bad idea, but if you’re choosing this Horde leveling path to level your character, it’s best to aim for the instances with a high density of trash mobs. This will grant you a higher volume of XP. That, of course, if you don’t really want to complete random dungeons, for the treasure bag.

Although there are many dungeons in the game, I’m going to focus here on the instances found in Outland. So, these are the ones that I prefer when I level up. This is my dungeon leveling path for leveling up a Horde character, when I reach Outland:

Outland Leveling Dungeon - Hellfire Ramparts

Click to Maximize

1. Hellfire Ramparts, level 58-63. Only 3 bosses here, but there are plenty of orcs. Since the orcs are, of course, humanoids, they drop plenty of Runecloth and Netherweave Cloth, which makes it an ideal place to level up if you’re a Tailor. In fact this is one of the best places to farm Runecloth in World of Warcraft.

There’s also a fair drop rate for green items here for Enchanters, and the final boss drops quite a nice polearm weapon for the players that don’t have the Heirloom one. It’s not a very hard instance and if the group is good, you can even complete it without a tank. On my last run here, a hunter tanked the whole instance with a turtle pet.

Outland Leveling Dungeon - Underbog

Click to Maximize

2. Underbog, level 63-66. Plenty of trash mobs in this instance, especially near the entrance and most of them are plant-type. This means they can be “skinned” by a Herbalist. However, even if you won’t get too many useful plants from them, the XP here is great and regardless if you have Herbalism or not, there’s a quest herb that you should gather to sell at the Auction House.

The Sanguine Hibiscus which is needed by those who want to earn the Diplomat title, for reputation with The Sporregar.

Outland Leveling Dungeon - Sehtekk Halls

Click to Maximize

3. Sethekk Halls, level 66-68. Although there are only 2 bosses in normal mode here, Darkweaver Syth and Talon King Ikiss, there are plenty of trash mobs, and it’s not a bad choice for leveling up. Most mobs are humanoid and drop plenty of Netherweave Cloth.

Also, since most of the mobs are Arakkoa birds, you will get plenty of Arakkoa feathers which you can use either to increase your reputation with Lower City, or you can sell to the Auction House. In case you want to sell these feathers, it’s best to sell them in stacks of 30. That’s the number required for the repeatable reputation quest.

Outland Leveling Dungeon - The Botanica

Click to Maximize

4. The Botanica, level 68-70. This is my favourite for the exit levels of XP from Outland, the last dungeon in my Horde leveling path for Outland. There are plenty of Sunfury Elves here, and you’ll also get reputation with the with the Sha’tar.

Of course, leveling just by completing dungeons might get tedious, so it’s not a bad idea to alternate with BGs and quests. Questing still remains the best way to level up a character to 85, but to do it right, it’s best to follow an optimized quest path. For that I usually use a WoW leveling guide.

So, if you also want to level fast, each one of the guides I reviewed here, has a consistent Horde leveling path.

Only played 2 hours today until I dinged level 72, so I this chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal won’t be a long one. The XP rate in WotLK appears to be a bit better than in the the Burning Crusade zones – 2.5 hours per level. I don’t know if it’s due to the epic flying mount but that doesn’t really matter. The more XP, the better.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Journal Day 13

Click to Maximize

My Paladin is now eligible for the Avenging Wrath spell. However, I’m not going to the trainer now, I’ll wait until I reach Dalaran. Since The Shattering, there are trainers in this city.

Zygor Horde leveling guide has taken me to Takuna’le Village after completing all the quests in Coldarra. I have accepted all the quests for Nexus but I think I’m going to skip them. I want to stick to the guide’s leveling path.

I’m not going to quest in Howling Fjord at all, as it seems. However, I think in the next leveling session I will travel there to get the flight paths. It really helps to have as many flight paths as possible.

 Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 13th Leveling Session

Anyway, I’m calling it a day for now. At the moment Gilphor has 2 days, 19 hours and 20 minutes played. Zygor Horde leveling guide has only taken me to the right place, at the right time until now.
