Horde PvP Leveling - Warsong Gulch

Click to Maximize

I know this sounds more like a PvP guide, but winning in any battleground while leveling, you’ll get much more XP than if your faction loses. Like many other players, I really like to level up in BGs and here’s a 3 steps Horde PvP leveling strategy that I usually follow when joining as a solo player in a Warsong Gulch battleground, to significantly increase the chances of my team to win the battle.

Step 1.  As soon as the doors opens, I don’t follow the rest of the team down through the GY or the tunnel, I always run down to the ramp, as fast as possible, to get the Berserking buff. I remain there, hidden, untill the enemies pass through there, into our base and attack one of the last players in their group, trying to kill him (or her). Even if I succeed or not, 2-3 players will remain to fight me, and their group will divide. This puts my team into advantage.

Step 2. If I don’t die attacking the other player (with a rogue, I vanish), the next step is to intercept the opposite team’s flag carrier. If I manage to do that, my team has a big chance of capping the first flag, if they pass through middle as a group, protecting our flag carrier.

If I died during step 1, I usually run into the base as I get the resurrection, trying to keep one of their healers busy in our base, leaving the opposite team’s flag carrier with less heals.

Step 3. As a 3rd step of this little Horde PvP leveling strategy, I remain in base defending, if our team has successfully capped 1 flag. Everytime one group of attackers come for our flag, even if I cannot kill them alone, I report which way they took the flag, letting my team know where to intercept them. In case they come more than 2-3, I always try to keep one of their healers behind.

If after the first clash of arms the score remains 0-0, both flags being returned, I take a place in defense as well. In my team fails to cap the first flag and it’s 1-0 for the Alliance, then I go and fight in the middle or try to steal a flag.

I hope this Horde PvP leveling strategy will help you out in winning Warsong Gulch battlegrounds and maximize your honor gains there, and also raise the amount of XP if you’re leveling up.

Anyway, in case you don’t like leveling via BGs, I strongly recommend to work with a quest guide. They have optimized questing paths that will allow you to level up any character much faster. If you don’t know which are the best guides for leveling a Horde character, check out these Horde Leveling Guide Reviews.

Starting another leveling session on Gilphor, and this is the 12th chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal. I’m probably going to reach level 70 today and get the epic flying skill and then stop.

I dinged 70 after 2 days, 13 hours and 30 minutes played. I’m ahead the Horde leveling guide ‘s path with about half a level so I’m going to skip the rest of the quests in Netherstorm. Heading to Orgrimmar to get the epic flying mount and then I will start fresh in Borean Tundra.

Yay! Got my Artisan and Cold Weather Flying skills! … but now I’m poor :cry: .  Got only 90g left. Doesn’t matter though, nothing really important to buy at the moment and by the time I’ll hit 85 I think I’ll have enough for the 310% riding skill, or to level a craft that goes with my Herbalism.

I have finished with Warsong Hold and with the small quest hubs in the vicinity of this Horde keep, and finally this Horde leveling guide has taken me to Amber Ledge. Calling it a day here because there’s some heavy PvP going on and can’t even click the damn NPCs. I’m going to heart to Warsong Hold, train my Herbalism skill and log out inside the inn, to get some rested XP.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 12th Leveling Session

Ok, time to close the 12th chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal. My pally is level 71 and 4 lines of XP at the moment, after 2 days, 17 hours and 13 minutes played. I hope I’m going to hit 75 before having 3 days played.

Oh, a very nice tip that I want to add here stands for the green BoE items that you will find questing or just killing mobs. Most of them are usable by players lower than level 70 and they are WotLK quality, which means they are much better than the blues found in Outland. Therefore, they sell for lots of gold. For example, I found 3 2-handed weapons which sold for 100g each. Maybe because this is a PvP server and players want the best items they can find for PvP.

>>> Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 13th Day

Here’s the 11th chapter of Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal. Starting this leveling session by going to Thrallmar to complete the Mag’har opener quest chain. This quest chain starts with “The Assassin” and ends with “A Spirit Guide”. So, don’t skip these quests when you’re in Hellfire, if you want to level up in Nagrand later on.

Took me about 15 minutes to finish this quest chain, now –> back to Garadar in Nagrand.

I have finished a part of the quests in Nagrand but for some reason the servers were brought down. I think I will continue when they will be brought up. Didn’t take a screenshot at this moment.

Servers just came back so I’m going to continue the leveling.

Plenty of gas clouds in Nagrand. I wish I had Engineering on this character because on this server, Primal Air, for some reason, sells for 100g each. I would have gathered 6-7 pieces easily, so my loss. For those who don’t know, in case you have Engineering, it’s best to complete the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor quest in Zangarmarsh before passing into Nagrand. This nice engineer’s tool will bring you a couple of hundreds of gold while leveling in Nagrand.

At the end of the Nagrand leveling session, Zygor Horde leveling guide did not mention anything about the Ring of Blood quests or Durn the Hungerer. I was going to do them but the Ring of Blood camp was camped by Alliance and couldn’t even get close, so I moved on.

Zygor’s leveling path took me to Blade’s Edge Mountains. Plenty of quests here, but if I didn’t have a flying mount, I wouldn’t have chosen this zone due to the inaccessibility of the terrain. However, since I have a flying mount, quests here shouldn’t take that long as without. Found 3 rare bosses up, proof that players don’t like this zone as their leveling destination. In other zones, rare bosses “vanish” without a trace as they spawn.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 11th Leveling Session

Decided to call it a day when I hit 69. Just got my Zealotry, pretty nice cooldown. So, I’m going to finish the 11th chapter in my  Horde leveling journal saying that at the end of today’s leveling session, Gilphor is level 69 and has 2 days and almost 11 hours played.

Badlands Grinding and Skinning Spot

Raising your skinning skill along with leveling your horde character is always a good idea. I mean, after reaching level 85, not many players like to get back to the low level zones to continue leveling this profession, and most players leave it at 200-300.

Especially if you level up via instances of battlegrounds, skinning is a good activity to kill time while waiting in queue.

Here is an excellent and profitable spot in Badlands where you can increase your skinning skill and also get some XP.

I’m talking here about the old location of Kargath. This is quite a nice Badlands grinding spot. This place is now “inhabited” by whelps, pretty much the same whelps that used to hang around in Lethlor Ravine (and still do) before Cataclysm. You need around a 225 skinning skill for them and a minimum level for your character of 43. This is not a bad grinding spot for Horde players because New Kargath is close by, so if your inventory gets filled up, a mailbox and vendors are just around the corner.

Now, the whelps at Lethlor Ravine, used to drop a companion pet, the Dark Whelpling, which sells for a lot of gold. I don’t know if the whelps at the old Kargath spot drop it, I didn’t get is after about 2 hours spent here, but the Thick and Heavy Leather you’ll get from them is quite a reward. You’ll also get nice XP and it’s a pleasant way to kill some time if you’re in queue for BGs or dungeons. All in all, if you have a bar of rested XP on your skinner, which also happens to be in a level range from 43 to 50, this Badlands grinding spot is a good place to choose for a grinding session, for a little XP and to raise your skinning skill.

I played 6 and a half hours today, about 3 hours from work as we’re not that booked and the boss wasn’t around (love this job, :lol: ). So, here’s the sum of events I’ve been through, respectively here’s the 10th chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Journal Day 10

I managed to bring Gilphor to level 67. XP is going a bit slower now, XP rate being around 3 hours per level. I took a few detours though, from Zygor Horde leveling path gathering herbs, buying and selling stuff at AH etc. and consumed quite some time in the process.

I also noticed only now, after 67 levels  :lol: that I had the “impossible steps” removed from the leveling path. This feature refers to some of the elite bosses you have to kill for certain quests. These “impossible steps” aren’t that impossible for my Paladin and I’m pretty sure not many classes should have any trouble soloing them. Therefore I unchecked this option.

Decided to call it a day at Garadar. I had quite an “Oops!” when I reached this location though, because the Mag’har NPCs are unfriendly to me. For some reason I skipped the Mag’har opening quest chain in Hellfire like an idiot and now I have to return to complete it, to gain access to these quests. No biggie, though. The quest chain is written in Zygor Horde leveling guide, at the Hellfire Peninsula section, so all I have is to select that guide from the list. However I’m gonna do this the next leveling session.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 10th Leveling Session

Currently, as you can see,  Gilphor is level 67 and has 2 days, 4 hours and 45 minutes played.

>>> Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 11th Day

Today I had quite a bit of a leveling session, so here the summary of it in the 9th chapter of this Horde leveling journal.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Journal Day 9

First I want to say that the XP rate following Zygor Horde leveling guide maintains the same, since I started Outland, 1 level per 2 hours played. After 5 hours played, I managed to score 2 levels and a little more than a half, due to the guild XP bonus and the rested XP bonus that I had.

I managed to finish with Hellfire Peninsula and moved to Zangarmarsh. So far, here I’ve finished the quests at Cenarion Refuge and passed to Zabra’jin and Sporeggar.

For the Sporeggar faction, Zygor’s guide asks to gather 40 Mature Spore Sacs at the Spawning Glen, to get to Friendly standing for additional quests. In my opinion that shouldn’t be necessary because one or two quests plus or minus won’t make a big difference. Anyway, I’m not complaining and going to stick with the leveling path. This took me only about 10 minutes.

Found plenty of Ragveil following this WoW leveling guide’s path and there was none at the Auction House as I checked later, so I was able to sell it for 90 gold per stack.  Ch-ching!

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 9th Leveling Session

So, I’m closing the ninth chapter of Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal underlining that my pally is currently level 64 and 2/3 and has, as you can see in the screenshot here, 1 day, 22 hours and 15 minutes played. I hope I’ll be able to hit 66, before 2nd day of the total time played.

>>> Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 10th Day

Made it to level 62 after today’s leveling session on Gilphor. So, here’s the 8th chapter in my Horde leveling journal. I cleared about 2/3 from all Hellfire Peninsula quests and called it a day before starting the quests at Falcon Watch.

So far, for the Outland quests, Zygor Horde leveling guide maintains the same effectiveness, keeping me always on the right track. XP doesn’t come as easy as in Azeroth zones though. So far it took me around 2 hours per level.

I’ve also been quite a little bit delayed by the PvP at Thrallmar. There was a squad of 5 level 85, Alliance players killing everything there, and they held their ground for about two hours. So, I got ganked a few times when I went to turn quests in. I was also surprised to see a lot of PvP activity at the PvP towers in middle western Hellfire Peninsula. Players in a level range from 60 to 85 were fighting for those towers.

I didn’t go to train at 62 and I don’t think I’ll visit a trainer anyway until level 66 or so.

Didn’t find too many herbs in the red and apparently dry lands of Hellfire Peninsula. I guess there were quite a few herb gatherers in the area that picked up the Felweed and the other herbs here. Anyway, since I don’t have a craft based on Herbalism, this isn’t a problem for me. I’m not behind on my Herbalism skill level, at least for now.

Although Zygor’s Horde leveling guide didn’t mention some of the elite quests in Hellfire, I managed to solo a few, because as you see, Paladins are OP, and I really must mention them in my Horde leveling journal to brag a bit. *flex*

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 8th Leveling Session

To conclude this blog post, the 8th chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal, I want to underline that currently Gilphor is level 62 and has 1 day, 17 hours and 15 minutes played. And yes, the flying skill has helped me a lot, so make sure it’s the first investment you make as you pass to Outland, if you’re leveling a new character. Zygor’s Horde leveling guide maintains the same line, the same effectiveness, placing me always at the right place, at the right time.

>>> Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 9th Day

Starting another leveling session on Gilphor. I currently have 1 day and about 10 hours played and I’m level 56. I’m probably going to level up 60 today.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Journal Day 7

Click to Maximize

So, here’s the  summary of Gilphor’s 7th leveling session, the 7th chapter of this Horde leveling journal. After 3 hours and a half played today, I made it to 60. Cleared Winterspring and half of Blasted Lands. After finishing with the quests inside Dreadmaul Furnace in Blasted Lands I dinged 60 and Zygor’s guide detected it, skipping for me the rest of the quests in this zone.  So, my next step is to pass through the Dark Portal into Hellfire Peninsula and start with the Burning Crusade quests.

However, I didn’t venture into Outland yet. I’m leaving it for the next leveling session. Calling it a day for now.

The prices for glyphs went down over night  so I finally bought 2 important glyphs: Glyph of Crusader Strike and Glyph of Judgement. A few days ago these glyphs had outrageous prices of 2-300g.

Since I started the quests in Blasted Lands, Zygor Horde leveling guide didn’t tell me to make Dreadmaul Hold my home, so I used my hearthstone to teleport to Winterspring and flew once more to Orgrimmar, to train for level 60 (got Blessing of Might) and to get my flying skills. It’s a good thing I saved all the money for this. I got both Expert Riding and Flight Master’s License and still have 1500g. So, by the time I reach level 70 I’m probably going to be covered for the epic flying skill.

One more thing to add here. I was dumb not to use the Zygor guide talent advisor option.  Because I had two talents trained which were almost useless for leveling, I had to re-train.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 7th Leveling Session

Therefore, to conclude this blog the 7th chapter of this Horde leveling journal, I’m going to repeat, Gilphor is now level 60, has 1 day, 13 hours and 34 minutes played.

>>>Gilphor’s Horde Leveling Journal – 8th Day

Posting the 6th leveling session in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal. I don’t think this is going to be a very long leveling session. I’m probably be on until I finish with Swamp of Sorrows or until I reach level 55.

Gilphor's Horde Leveling Journal Day 6

Click to Maximize

I decided to end this leveling session at Winterspring. Although I have played about 3 hours and a half, there’s a lot I can say about this leveling session. I’ll be brief though.

Gilphor has 1 day, 9 hours and 42 minutes played, being now level 56.  During this leveling session, I have finished all the quests that Zygor Horde leveling guide has mentioned for Swamp of Sorrows and about half of the quests in Winterspring.

While questing in Swamp of Sorrows I got my Herbalism to 350 being now prepared to gather herbs in Outland. I bought a few nice recipes from the trade supplies vendor in Stonard. I think I’m going to get 150-200g for them. Also, while working on the quests at the Sunken Temple, a pretty sweet epic ring dropped from a rare mob. Gonna auction that for 300g. Although the prices for the flying skills were lowered, the 280% one is still 4500g or so, and I’m saving all the gold for it.

Once I have finished with Swamp of Sorrows, this WoW leveling guide has taken me to a long journey to Winterspring through Orgrimmar, Azshara, Ashenvale and Felwood. I discovered quite a few flight paths on the way  which I guess will be very useful sooner or later.

I’m a little bit ineffective at killing mobs at the moment since I didn’t buy any glyphs. On this server they have outrageous prices. For example, Glyph of Crusader Strike is 250g. I’m not going to pay that much for it, at least not yet. Scribes are greedy bastards! I’m saving every penny to buy the epic riding skill as soon as I hit level 70, as I said. Hopefully the prices for glyphs will drop by the next days.

Gilphor Horde Leveling Time for 6th Leveling Session

That’s about all I have to say for this leveling session. Putting an end to the 6th chapter in Gilphor’s Horde leveling journal.  So far, this Horde leveling guide works like a charm, keeping me on the best track.
